St. Mel’s Cathedral, Longford

Tragically the hundred and sixty-year-old St Mel’s Cathedral in Longford was almost destroyed in a fire on Christmas Morning 2009. It was reopened on December 19th 2014 after a complete refurbishment by Main Contractors Gem/Purcell. The Restoration Project received several awards for what was before Notre Dame in Paris the largest restoration project in Europe.
